Problems

I was a man who worried a lot, and not without reason. Problem followed problem, things just kept going wrong in my life, I couldn’t understand why. I ended up taking sleeping tablets at night and Valium tablets in the morning - to face the day! Daily I smoked around eighty cigarettes and drank around fifteen pints of beer. My life was a life of torment.

Then one day I was invited to a Christian dinner meeting. I didn’t particularly want to go, I wasn’t interested in religion and I didn’t fancy becoming a vicar or a monk! But I went along anyway and heard stories of people’s lives being changed for the better. Up until then, nothing I’d tried had worked, so I thought I’d try Jesus. I said a prayer, admitting I had sinned (who hasn’t?), asked forgiveness and hoped this would help my life. I agreed to do things Jesus' way instead of doing things 'My Way!' When I said this prayer I was 'Saved' or as Jesus describes it in the Bible I was 'Born Again'.

What a difference! Slowly my life changed. Within days I stopped swearing, I just started to find swearing offensive, after a lifetime of swearing like a trooper. One by one my problems vanished. Now I take no tablets, I don’t smoke or drink and I don’t know what it is to have a bad day any more! Now when I face a problem I ask Jesus to solve it. Jesus either solves the problem or helps me through it, I am no longer a worrier.

Here are the four vital steps to take, to get into a position to have your problems solved.

Step 1: Realise that God loves us: “For God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son so that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

Step 2: Realise that sin separates us from God. “Yes, all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious ideal.” (Romans 3;23)

Step 3: Believe that Jesus is God’s remedy for our sin; we can get to God only through Jesus. Jesus said, "I am The Way--yes, and the Truth and the Life. No one can get to the Father except by means of me.” (John 14:6 ) It’s not enough just to know these facts, we must take the next step

Step 4: Receive Jesus Christ. “But to all who received Him, He gave the right to become children of God. All they needed to do was to trust Him to save them. All those who believe this are reborn!” (John 1:12-13) To receive Jesus into your life, say this prayer – and really mean it!

“Lord Jesus, I am sorry that I have sinned by doing things my way instead of yours, please forgive me. Thank You for dying to take away my sins. Please come into my life, sort out my problems and make me the person you want me to be. Amen.”

From now on I strongly advise the following:
a) Read some Bible verses every day; God speaks to us through the Bible.
b) Pray every day. In this way, we speak to God and find that He both hears and answers prayer.
c) Regularly attend a church with born-again Christians, such as a Pentecostal church.
d) Spend as much time as possible with other born-again Christians; they know the type of problems you will face, and can really help you.

I have experienced my share of problems and found The Way through them. You can learn, as I did, to say in the face of difficulties
– – – No Problem!
